Pups are now 17 days old and having their first nail trimming experience (best done when they are asleep of course). Their eyes are now opening and they are no longer little milk guzzling furry blobs but are starting to move around and use their legs more to try and walk, before toppling over. So cute to see. Once they have a little more vision, new toys & objects will be introduced into the whelping box to start their important environmental stimulation.

Pups are 11 days old today and looking plump and about to burst. Any time now their eyes should be opening, although may be a little bit delayed due to them being 4 days premature. They are starting to get black freckles on their noses and mottling around their muzzles and also some mottling under their white body hair. Can't wait for their ears to open and they start to hear sounds for the first time.

Mitzi's pups are now a week old and have doubled their weight. There is plenty of milk at the Milk Bar and they look like three fat little dumplings ! Mitzi is recovering well from the C-section and is due to have her stitches removed on Wednesday. She is a doting mum and is looking after the pups very well. She has begun to leave the whelping pen for short periods but stays close by to keep an eye on things. She returns a short while after to check they are okay and lies down with them again. Only another week until the pups eyes open and they start to get vision, They will then be entering the "Transitional Phase" until their ears open at around 3 weeks and they start to get their hearing. That's when they start to move about more and the real fun will begin.

Took Mitzi to Vet today with her puppies for their 5 day check up. Mitzi's c-section scar is healing well and her temperature is normal, so she doesn't need any more medication or pain relief. Mitzi and her little family were given the all clear and she just has to go back again next Wednesday to have her stitches removed.
